U12a Grind out a Result

U12a Corbally Utd 0 v Mungret Reg 0

- Played last Saturday, this match on paper was a home banker for Mungret who are challenging for top spot in the premier with Ashling, and with six players out due to other sporting commitments, this match was going to be a tough one, however with replacements coming from Frank O'Maras U11s, we set about our task with great heart and a great team spirit which has been lacking a bit in previous matches. Playing up hill the match started very evenly with most of the match being played in the middle of the pitch, Mungret started to press toward the end of the half but some fantastic goalkeeping from Phillip Bridgeman, kept us in the match.

The second half started pretty much as the first with both sides having half chances, although 10 minutes into the second half Mungret started to pick up the pace and pushed forward determined to get a winner however our defence held firm with Colin Kelly putting in a masterful performance, as Mungret pushed on, this left them opened at the back and we found ourselves with a couple of clear cut chances to take all three points but for there centrehalf making some fantastic last ditch challenges the match ended in a very well earned scoreless draw, thanks to Frank for allowing his players to step up and play this match and well done to those players who played out of their skins.
