Corbally U9 Reds

Corbally 0 v 1 Aisling Annacotty  - Red Team

Conor Purcell Man of the Match

-Ruben McCarthy Man of the Match

Our final game of the season and it was a rematch with Aishling Annacotty. We started well and held onto the ball with some nice passing movements. Our defence was solid and midfield was working hard to keep the ball. At 15 mins Aishling Annacotty got a corner which we did not defend and let a free man score Aishling Annacotty 1 goal up.

After this it was nearly all Corbally as we chased the equaliser to keep our undefeated record intact. Joe Collins came very close with a screamer of a shot which flashed past the right hand post. In the second half The Corbally defence were camped on the half way line repelling anything back to their forwards with Conor Purcell having an outstanding match.

Shane Kelly broke up an attack in midfield and got the ball to Shane Fox, Foxy found Sean Mahon free outside, Sean drew his marker towards him and then passed a lovely ball to Adam McMahon, Adam made his way to the goal line and crossed a perfect ball into the box with Mark McMahon meeting it but the ball hit the post. Corbally kept the pressure on and after winning a corner were unlucky when Ruben McCarthy’s header flashed inches over the crossbar. Time got the better of us as the final whistle blew it was Corbally United 0 – 1  Aishling Annacotty. Well done to Annacotty as they gave us the 2 good matches. Our boys thought they should have got an equaliser at least but that’s football.

With the season now over the managers would like to thank all the players who turned up every Saturday no matter what the weather was like and a big thank you to the parents who not only watched the matches but also the training sessions.Last but not least we had another great display by all the players but 2 players put that bit extra in. They were Conor Purcell and Ruben McCarthy.
