Corbally 3 - 1 Mungret Regional

A great display by corbally u9’s Green as they notched up their first win of the season. Shane Murphy and Tara Mannix totally dominated the midfield and they created many chances for David Cullen and Liam O’Shannahan. There were lots of shots on target but the Mungret/Regional keeper was having a fine game denying our forwards of a goal. Our pressure told eventually when a shot from Shane Murphy could not be held by the keeper and Liam O’Shannhan followed up quickly and put the ball in the net. In the backs Conor Meade made some incisive runs down the right to keep Corbally going forward. Padraig Ryan and Ian Cullen were getting stuck into everything at the back. Mungret/Regional managed to get the better of us after a momentary lapse of concentration our defence was caught too far forward after a long attacking period and Mungret/Regional made the most of their opportunity with a powerful shot beating Bobby O’Mara in goals.

The second half we tightened up our defence with Ian O’Loughlin sweeping up anything that got past Shane and Tara with some good support from Seamus Redden and Colm Shanny. David Cullen made it 2 for us with some great build up work from Shane Murphy, Tara Mannix, Liam O’Shanahan and Bobby O’Mara. Then a great ball from Ian O’Loughlin was chased by Tara down the right she kept the ball in play and crossed it to Ben Murphy and his shot came off the inside of the post and somehow landed in the keepers arms. Our third goal came again with some fine passing from our midfield and finished in style by Bobby O’Mara. Mungret/regional tried to make a comeback but David Roche, Conor Meade and Ian O’Loughlin were solid in defence.
