Club History
Corbally United Football Club was founded in 1979. Since then we have won all major honours in Limerick City and pride ourselves in developing friendship and community spirit through football. We have almost 25 teams competing in the local leagues with over 300 players ranging from the ages of 7 upwards. Our Home Grounds are located in Athlunkard. Our facilities include two first class pitches, an all-weather surface, a large car park and clubhouse. These have been developed with the aid of the Department of Sport, Clare Co Council and the FAI. We plan to continue this tradition into the future.
As well as the 300 kids playing for the club in local and national competitions. We cater for an Elderly Club that meet and interact weekly. We also cater for a Youth Club that serves the area. The local primary school also uses the facility.
An Annual charity game brings in much needed funds for Milford Hospice.
The major problem we face currently, is that a recent Engineers Report has pointed out that our club house is currently not meeting the required building codes, for use as dressing rooms and meeting rooms for the Elderly club, Youth Club and the local school.
This troubles us deeply, and needs to be addressed urgently .Beyond the immediate need for refurbishment of the Clubhouse. We believe that with the increasing competitiveness of local soccer leagues, we feel that a Gym and fitness room is necessary. We also believe there is a need for an indoor training facility, which could also serve the community for basketball, and other indoor sports, further serving the local community.
With the increasing need to keep our young people fit , healthy and active, we at Corbally United believe it is our duty to provide a top class sporting facility that is immersed in the local community. Drawing players and managers that contribute to the area and supporting the growth of the sport in the region.
We need continued financial backing to improve and maintain out facilities.
